Hi everyone!

I am doing an oral report for the Gifted and Talented program about penicillin and the man who discovered it, Alexander Fleming. Fleming was a genius. Penicillin is a medicine that is VERY popular and has saved millions of lives. Fleming was born on a Scottish farm and was the seventh of eight children. As a young boy, he walked 4 MILES to school and received good education. He worked and studied bacteriology at the Inoculation Department. Then, in 1928, he accidently left his window of his lab open when going on vacation and right next to it, his petri dish. When he came back, he discovered mold spores and a strange fuzzy blue mold growing on the dish that had dissolved some harmful bacteria on it. The mold was called penicillium , and you can probably imagine what happened after that.
Alexander changed the way we look at medicine today!
